¡Llegaron las Vacaciones!
The school year has come to an end and it is time to soak up the
sun and enjoy our much need summer break! However...If you are anything like
me, a few weeks into summer, I am already thinking about the classes I will be
teaching next year, the students, the lessons, and how to decorate my
classroom. It is also a good time to reflect on what worked and what needs
improvement.
So, I would like to share a few of my favorite apps/websites from last year, that I plan on implementing in my Spanish classes for the 2017-2018 school year.
1. Quizlet
Quizlet allows students to study customized vocabulary sets
created by their teachers over specific material that is being covered in
class. No more vocabulary powerpoints!
In addition, you can monitor student progress and participation
through the website. A $29.99 yearly fee is required to access that feature,
but it is well worth it!
Quizlet live allows
students to work in cooperative learning groups to test out their vocabulary
skills. Check out Sra. Shaw's post regarding Quizlet Live here!
2. Duolingo
Last year, I use duolingo
as a bell ringer/para empezar during the first 10 minutes of class. It allows students
to build vocabulary in a fun and interactive way. Every student creates an
account and joins your class. As an educator, you can monitor their progress
for a weekly participation grade.
3. Kahoot
Kahoot is simply an
enjoyable informal assessment in which students compete with one another to
earn a spot on the leader board. I usually offer prizes at the end of a
kahoot "quiz" as an incentive to do their best. It provides instant
feedback to both the teacher and the students.
I wish you the best with your Spanish classes and I'd love to know what websites/apps you used with your students.
Hasta la próxima,
